Fully RNN for knee ligament tear classification and localization in MRI scans

چکیده
Diagnosing ligament injuries using MRI scans is a labor-intensive task that requires an expert. In this paper, we propose fully recurrent neural network (RNN) for detecting Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tears scans. The proposed localizes the ACL and classifies it into several categories: tear, normal healthy. Existing detection methods use deep learning networks based on single sections, in way lose 3D spatial context. To address this, processes sequence of sections so captures YOLOv3 backbone can produce decisions which are then combined by majority voting. Experimental results show improvement over state-of-the-art methods.

MRI of knee ligament injury and reconstruction.
Knee ligament instability may lead to meniscal and chondral damage, resulting in early osteoarthritis. Due to its superior soft tissue contrast and avoidance of harmful ionizing radiation, MRI has become the most important imaging modality for early recognition of structural defects of the knee joint. This review aims to the understanding of MRI appearances of knee ligament structures associate...
متن کاملClassification of Knee Mri Images
Classification is very important part of digital image analysis. It is a computational procedure that sort images into groups according to their similarities. MRI is latest medical imaging technology. Magnetic Resonance Imaging used for Knee scans is very useful and effective technique to detect the knee joint defects. It is a non-invasive method to take picture of knee joint and the surroundin...
متن کاملMRI evaluation to predict tendon size for knee ligament reconstruction.
Background The aim of this study is to evaluate a possible correlation between specific anthropometric parameters and sizes of knee tendons commonly used for ACL reconstruction. We hypothesized that specific clinical and radiological knee measurements could be better tendon sizes predictors than age, gender, height and weight. Materials and methods 100 consecutive patients were enrolled and 7...

متن کاملFast MRI for repeated scans
Radiological assessment of brain disease progression and response to therapy is often performed with repeated MRI scans acquired every few weeks/months. In these longitudinal studies, each scan is acquired anew without taking into account the information present in previous scans. However, many image regions remain unchanged from one time point to the next, making the difference image between t...
